Heartbeats for Hope is a fitness-driven fundraising initiative that began in Calgary in 2024 to honour the courageous journey of Sloane, a young girl diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, and the families who walk the childhood cancer journey every day. This year marks Strong Like Sloane’s third annual Heartbeats for Hope.

After an 18-month treatment journey, a relapse six months later, and a second remission, she still faces a long road ahead, as do so many children with cancer who face high relapse rates and lifelong medical challenges.

What started as a small effort to channel fear, grief, and hope into something meaningful has grown into a city-wide movement of fitness studios, gyms, and wellness communities coming together every February to support families across Alberta.

Thanks to incredible partners like you, we raised $7,000 during last year’s Heartbeats for Hope — enough to support 28 families with expenses not covered by Alberta Health or private insurance. Our goal for 2026 is $10,000!
