Executive Director/Founder of Helping Families Handle Cancer

Carie is a childhood cancer survivor who wanted to use her own experience to impact others. After being diagnosed with cancer at the age of 13 months, she was given only a 10% chance of surviving Rhabdomyosarcoma, as her tumor was very advanced. As a young adult Carie spent many years volunteering at different cancer charities and developing her skills before finding her own path. At the age of 24 years old, Carie Stock founded Helping Families Handle Cancer.

Using her own family’s journey as inspiration, she founded this non-profit foundation that helps families who are struggling to make ends meet when their child is battling cancer at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. Due to her active volunteerism and her passion for Helping Families Handle Cancer, she was awarded the Terry Fox Humanity Award, Calgary’s Women of Vision Award, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, and was named Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40 by Avenue Magazine.

Hobbies/Interests:

Carie enjoys oil painting and spending time with her husband and two puppies: Ocean and Rogan. Speaking of Ocean, you can usually find her dreaming of scuba diving or relaxing on the beach.
